Progressive activist Analilia Mejia defeated a crowded field of Democratic contenders for the party nomination to fill Gov. Mikie Sherrill's old seat in the House. The 11th District is fairly Democratic-leaning, which has always set up the winner of the nomination to be favored in the April 16 special general election against Republican Joe Hathaway, a local mayor who is unopposed for his party's nomination.
