Several general elections in Iowa are expected to be competitive in the general election, but the matchups are all but officially set in the 1st and 3rd Districts. With Rep. Randy Feenstra running for governor, Republican operative and local chamber of commerce official Chris McGowan is running unopposed in the primary for the heavily GOP 4th District, while former state Rep. Joe Mitchell got President Donald Trump’s backing in the 2nd District, which also leans Republican but which Democrats hope to make competitive.
