I’m very picky about dish soap because I don’t have a dishwasher, and out of all the options I’ve tested, Dawn Powerwash Spray is hands-down the best one. It easily removes dirt and grime from my dishes without pre-soaking, and it leaves them literally sparkling. Also, since the soap works without water, I don’t turn my faucet on until I’m ready to rinse. Beyond washing dishes, you can use Dawn’s spray on laundry stains, kitchen surfaces, appliances and grills, according to the brand. The most boring essentials on your shopping list are often the best deals to take advantage of during Prime Big Deal Days — you’ll need to restock eventually, so you might as well do it when items are discounted. Cascade’s dishwasher pods are a perfect example. They come in a pack of 62, and with the discount applied, you’re only paying about 0.28 per pod. Each one has soap inside that gets rid of grease and food residue, and it cleans your dishwasher’s filter, too.
Amazon Smart Plug
Once you connect devices like lamps, fans and small kitchen appliances to the Amazon Smart Plug, you can control them through an app or via voice commands. The app also lets you set timers, schedules and routines — for example, I connect my Christmas lights to this smart plug and create a schedule for them so they turn on at 10 a.m. and turn off at 10 p.m. The plug is compact to keep your second outlet free.
I rely on this corded vacuum to get rid of dirt, dust and hair on hard floors and carpets in my three-pet home. It has powerful suction, a multi-stage washable HEPA filter to trap allergens and a swivel steering system that makes it easy to navigate. My favorite part of the vacuum is the detachable pod, which I carry around my home and use the extended reach tool to clean above door frames, under furniture and on stairs. Interchangeable wide upholstery and crevice attachments for the extended reach tool are included.
Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 made our list of the best earbuds, and I use mine every day while listening to music on runs, taking calls and blocking out noisy city streets. They’re comfortable and secure in my ears even when I get sweaty — they come with five interchangeable ear tips so you can find the right fit. The AirPods have three listening modes, including active noise cancellation, hours of battery life with the included charging case and advanced features like heart rate sensing during workouts, hearing aid mode and live language translation.
Exfoliating with Medicube’s Zero Pore Pads every other night has transformed my skin in the past year. The pads are soaked in a serum made with AHAs and BHAs, ingredients that have made my skin noticeably softer, smoother and clearer. There’s two sides to the pads: you use the textured one first to remove dead skin cells, then the soft one to soothe. I’m impressed by how much stuff I can fit inside Bagsmart’s toiletry bag every time I use it. It folds out into four compartments — some of them have elastic straps to hold bottles upright and others have zipper closures. The compartments are clear so you can always see what’s inside, and the bag has a built-in hook to hang it up. I always buy batteries when they’re on sale so I never run out at home. This pack comes with 24 AAs and 24 AAAs, and they last for up to 10 years in storage, according to the brand.
These Tide Pods don’t just clean clothes. The detergent inside each one also fights odors, pre-treats and removes stains, protects colors and boosts scents, according to the brand. I use them for all my laundry, including sweaty workout clothes and my pets’ beds, and I’ve never had an issue with them not dissolving, even in cold water. The dual-sided Scrub Mommy is the only sponge I buy. They’re made from a cooling gel material and soaked in serum made from ingredients to target different concerns, like vitamin C for brightening and peptides for moisturizing. Out of all the teeth whitening strips I’ve tested, Crest’s are the most effective and easiest to apply, plus they’re comfortable and stay in place — they’re so thin that I can have full conversations while wearing them. Laneige’s lip balm gives my lips a sheer tint and a glossy finish while moisturizing them with ingredients like shea and murumuru seed butters. It keeps my lips softer throughout the day and feels lightweight. I wear it on its own, and I often layer it over matte lipstick.
Amika’s dry shampoo came highly recommended to us by numerous hair stylists. They say the rice starch in its formula effectively absorbs moisture from the scalp and reduces odors to extend time between washes, while sea buckthorn berry nourishes the hair. Philips Sonicare’s 5950 Electric Toothbrush has all the features dentists told us to look for while shopping: a pressure sensor, a timer, a brush head replacement reminder and adjustable brushing settings. Its battery lasts for about 21 days before you need to recharge it, and it comes with a travel case and charging stand.
NBC Selected commerce editor Mili Godio swears by these Loop’s ear plugs for blocking out street sounds and snoring while sleeping at home, as well as general disruptions while resting in transit. They’re made from a soft silicone material and come with ear tips in four sizes to help you find your perfect fit. The ear plugs are washable and reusable up to five years, according to the brand. October Prime Day home deals
Prepare for the cozy season ahead by adding Ugg’s faux fur blanket to your couch or bed. October Prime Day kitchen deals
These were one of my best purchases during last year’s Prime Big Deal Days. Their ribbed silicone exterior helps me grip hot pots and pans, and they’re heat-resistant up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the brand. The material is also water-resistant, so I don’t worry about spills or splashes. The inside of the mitts are lined with cotton, making them soft against my skin.
You can make your own fresh popcorn at home with this kitchen gadget. Use the built-in measuring cup on the lid to portion out kernels, pour them into the popper and microwave it for about three minutes. You can also put butter on the lid, which has holes that let it melt onto the popcorn. Plus, once your snack is done cooking, you can use the popper as a serving bowl.
I traded disposable plastic bags for Stasher’s reusable silicone bags years ago. I use them every day to pack my lunch and store ingredients at home. The bags have air-tight, leak-free seals, and they’re freezer-, microwave-, dishwasher- and oven-safe up to 425 degrees Fahrenheit, according Stasher. You can also use them for sous-vide cooking, as well as write on them with dry-erase markers for easy labeling. These nonstick pans make sure food like eggs, grilled cheese, fish and veggies don’t get stuck to the surface while they’re cooking. I’m accident-prone, so Kitchen Mama’s battery-operated electric can opener is as much of a safety measure as it is a convenience when I’m cooking. You can monitor visitors and deliveries at all times with Blink’s video doorbell. It connects to the brand’s app, letting you livestream head-to-toe video (including in night vision) and audio, as well as speak to people. The doorbell runs on two AA batteries, comes with a mounting kit and you can install it wire-free. There’s also a Blink subscription available for an additional fee, which gives you access to features like in-app person detection and motion-activated notifications.
Turn any TV into a smart TV with Amazon’s Fire Stick, which you simply plug into an HDMI port to use. It lets you stream entertainment from your favorite platforms and watch live TV in HD. The Fire Stick comes with a remote that lets you control the TV via buttons or voice commands. It’s also compact so it won’t block other ports.
Attach this device to your keys, slip it inside a pocket or put it on a carabiner clip to find where your items are. The tracker connects to the Life360 app, letting you see its location, ring it and share information with loved ones. You can also press the tracker’s built-in button to ring your phone or send an SOS alert. The brand says its battery lasts up to three years.
If you’re in an emergency, you pull up the top ring on the She’s Birdie safety keychain to activate its loud alarm and strobe light to attract help. To stop the alarm, just push the ring back in. The device also has a built-in flashlight and is rechargeable— it even has a charge-light indicator to remind you to recharge it. It comes with a brass ring so you can hook it onto bags, keys and belt loops.
This portable Bluetooth speaker may be small, but it gives you balanced surround sound due to its round shape. It also floats and can be under up to a meter of water for 30 minutes, according to the brand. You get up to 14 hours of battery life per charge, and there’s different modes to optimize sound, like for podcasts and when you’re outdoors.
Avoid tangling your cables by organizing them in this waterproof travel case. It’s divided into three sections, with enough room for multiple cords, a power bank, your phone, earbuds and more in its internal pockets. It also has a carrying loop.

Yes, October Prime Day is actually worth it, so long as you shop strategically. The sale offers some of the lowest prices of the year on products across categories, giving you a chance to start shopping for holiday gifts, upgrade outdated or broken items and restock your favorite basics, like skin care, cleaning supplies and groceries. But ultimately, deals are only worth it if you actually need something, so plan your spending to prevent making impulse purchases.
