There’s only a few hours left to shop discounts on home essentials during October Prime Day (technically called Prime Big Deal Days), exclusive to Prime members. Some of the best deals include daily must-haves from Brawny, Dawn, Lysol and more.
I frequently cover shopping events like Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday and Cyber Monday as a commerce editor for NBC Selected, so I know how to find deals that are actually worth buying. I spent weeks combing through thousands of discounts to find the best October Prime Day home essentials deals — each one I recommend below is highly rated and 20 percent off or more, as well as at its lowest price in at least three months.
I’ll frequently update this list throughout Prime Big Deal Days with editor-approved picks, so continue to check back for new additions.

Best October Prime Day home essentials deals
This set includes 12 rolls of three-play paper towels, which are durable enough to clean up all types of messes on countertops, bathroom sinks, tables, desks and much more. Plus, you can use just a half sheet or a quarter when you need to pick up a small spill. NBC Selected senior editor Shalwah Evans uses these to clean up after her dog and she says she loves how thick and durable they are. “No one wants a paper towel that’s going to give way when you’re wiping up a puppy accident, so I’m thankful for these,” she says.
This box comes with 28 AA batteries and 28 AAA batteries, all of which have a shelf life of more than a decade, according to the brand. All of the alkaline batteries are in a case that you can open and close repeatedly to keep your batteries in one place.
Tide’s Free & Clean laundry detergent is perfect for people who love unscented detergent and/or have sensitive skin, babies or pets. This set comes with 112 packets of pre-portioned detergent, which is also hypoallergenic and accepted by the National Eczema Association.
This set of disinfectant wipes includes two containers of lemon-scented wipes, a container of linen-scented wipes and a container of mango and hibiscus-scented. So no matter which ones you break open first, your space will smell fresh. They’re great for cleaning multiple surfaces throughout your home, including kitchen countertops, tables and more.
The wipes are fragrance free and hypoallergenic, making them perfect for cleansing all skin types, particularly sensitive skin and skin that is prone to eczema, according to the brand. This large set includes 12 packages of wipes, each one with a formula made of mostly water and a small mix of fruit extract.
I love Swiffer’s lightweight floor mops and this one even sprays the cleaning solution onto the floor. It comes with a bottle of cleaning product and 10 cleaning pads that are great at collecting dust, dirt and even hair on hardwood floors and tiles.
These durable trash bags are made for tall bins, including the ones in your kitchen and backyard. The box includes 80 bags, each with a drawstring handle to keep the contents inside and a flexible material to prevent ripping when you stuff containers and other oddly shaped things inside. You can get them unscented or scented, and each bag has a capacity of 13 gallons.
Blueland is one of our favorite cleaning brands, particularly for dishes and laundry. These dishwasher tablets, which come in a pack of 60, are free of microplastics, dyes and scents. The tablets help to get rid of food residue and grime from plates, pots and pans, bowls and flatware.
You will never not need toilet paper, and Prime Day is one of the best times to buy a lot and save. This set includes 224 rolls of three-ply sheets of toilet paper. One of these unscented rolls is equal to about four small rolls — this will last even a large family for a while. The three layers of sheets makes them strong and absorbent. You can also get them in sets with different amounts of rolls.
This organic protein powder is perfect for people who want to increase their intake but prefer plant-based protein over whey. Each serving has 21 grams of protein and only 150 calories, and you can get a container of the power in flavors like vanilla, chocolate peanut butter, coffee, strawberries and cream.
Cascade has some of the best dishwasher detergent tablets I’ve ever used. This container includes 62 pods, each with detergent that helps wash away grease and food from dishes, pots and pans with stuck-on food and more. Cascade also says the formula is made to help prevent hard water spots and filming.
Tide is one of my go-to brands when it comes to liquid laundry detergent. This formula has a fresh scent that isn’t overpowering and my clothes always smell and feel clean after I use it. It also does a great job of getting rid of stains without fading dark and bright colors.
An AncestryDNA test tells you a lot about your family’s history and background. This kit is easy to use and set up, and you get results in a little over a month. Plus, you don’t have to buy a subscription for it and you can still get your origins from all over the world and even info on living relatives you may not already know.
Finish makes incredible dishwasher pods— they do such a great job of cleaning all types of dishes and don’t leave water stains on them. This case comes with 62 detergent pods, which are thorough enough to clean dishes with residue, including baking dishes and skillets, which don’t always come out of the machine fully clean with other pods.
This lemon-scented spray is an air freshener- multisurface cleaner hybrid that eliminates both odor and bacteria. It can be used everywhere from your bathroom to the bedroom, and this three-pack should last you several months.
If you regularly take collagen, this is a great opportunity to stock up on this popular variety from Vital Proteins. The powder, which is unflavored and made with hyaluronic acid and collagen peptides from grass-fed bovine, helps with hair and nail growth, according to the brand.

I evaluated the quality of these deals by running them through price trackers like CamelCamelCamel, and I only included ones that:
- Are at their lowest price in at least three months
- Are 20% off or more
- Are highly rated with at least a 4-star average rating from hundreds of customers on Amazon
