The countdown is on for this year’s fall Prime Day, otherwise known as Amazon’s Prime Big Deals Day, and it’s time to prepare your wishlist. The two-day megasale, which takes place on Oct. 6 and 7, is the perfect time to stock up on everyday essentials (and maybe a splurge or two).
To give you some shopping inspiration, I gathered a few NBC Selected reader-favorite items and brands that we expect to have discounts during the sale. While we can’t guarantee the below products will be on sale during Prime Big Deal Days, it’s always good to be prepared.

Amazon bestsellers to watch during October Prime Day
Dishwasher tablets are a household necessity, and not only are these pods a favorite among our NBC Selected readers, but they also have a history of going on sale for Prime Day. NBC Selected senior editor Shalwah Evans uses these at home and says she loves that they can get the grossest stains off a variety of her cookware. This pack comes with 57 fresh-scented pods.
Apple’s AirPods Pro 3 have active noise cancellation, heart rate sensing, live translation and a secure in-ear fit. They also have up to eight hours of battery life from one charge. If you missed out on the discount during Prime Day in June, it’s worth taking another look on fall Prime Day.
When it comes to reliable cleaning products, this spray dish soap comes recommended by NBC Selected reporter Zoe Malin and commerce editor Cory Fernandez. It’s versatile and effective, helping you remove stubborn food from your dishes faster, according to the brand. This bundle comes with a spray bottle and three refills.
These toner pads help smooth texture and reduce pore size for all skin types, whether you’re acne-prone or have oily skin, according to the brand. They are a favorite of Malin’s, who says the pads reduced the size of her pores around her T-zone. If you have sensitive skin, NBC Selected commerce editor Mili Godio recommends using Medicube’s Zero Pore Pad Mild instead.
These protein shakes were a top seller during last year’s fall Prime Day. Each of the 12 chocolate shakes have 30 grams of protein and no added sugar, according to the brand. The bottles are small in size and easy to pack for the office, school or the gym.
Amazon’s smart plug pairs with the Alexa app and is compatible with Alexa-enabled devices like the Echo Dot and Fire TV. You can use your voice to set timers, switch off lights, turn on kitchen appliances and more. Malin uses this plug to turn the heat lamp for her pet turtle, Angie, on and off. “I set a schedule so the plug turns on at 9 a.m. and off at 10 p.m.,” she says. “If I’m traveling, this gives me peace of mind because I don’t need to ask a pet sitter to remember to do it.”
This cream earned the No. 3 spot in our list of the 100 best moisturizers after months of editor testing. It’s fragrance- and oil-free, so it’s great for those with sensitive or easily irritated skin. It has ceramides to help strengthen your skin barrier and niacinamide and glycerin, which keep skin hydrated.

Former NBC Selected tech reporter Harry Rabinowitz likes to keep AirTags in his checked luggage when traveling. “My flight from New York City to Texas was cancelled, but using my AirTag, I saw that my checked-bag still ended up in Texas, somehow,” says Rabinowitz. “I kept track of its location and saw when it was back in New York City nearly a day before my airline notified me to come pick it up at the airport.”
