Amazon makes many of the best e-readers — all of the brand’s models have bright, glare-free screens that make reading easy no matter where you are. The Amazon Kindle is the brand’s smallest, lightest e-reader, and it’s currently on sale for $89 — matching its lowest price we’ve seen for the device.
The Amazon Kindle is small, compact and lightweight — it only weighs about 0.34 pounds, much less than any hardcover book. You can easily download Kindle e-books and Audible audiobooks, and with 16GB of storage, you can store thousands of titles at once. But our favorite feature is battery life: the Amazon Kindle gets up to six weeks of battery life — I barely ever have to think about charging mine.
This latest 2025 version has a brighter, more contrasty screen than previous versions, according to Amazon. It isn’t waterproof, so you may want to consider the pricier but waterproof Kindle Paperwhite if you plan on doing a lot of bath, beach or poolside reading.
