California has 52 congressional districts. Some of the most competitive states are likely to emerge where Republicans are hoping to squeeze out Democrats. The race in California’s 13th Congressional District pits incumbent Republican John Duarte against Democratic challenger Adam Gray after the pair emerged as the top two candidates from an open primary. Duarte was first elected in 2022, winning a seat previously held by a Democrat. The race in California’s 22nd Congressional District is between incumbent Republican David Valadao and Democratic challenger Rudy Salas. Democrats have an advantage in the district and hope that may allow them to flip the seat. The race in California’s 27th Congressional District between incumbent Republican Mike Garcia and Democratic challenger George Whitesides. Garcia, a Navy veteran, was first won the seat in a special election in 2020. Whitesides was NASA chief of staff in the Obama administration. The race in California’s 41st Congressional District is between Republican incumbent Ken Calvert and Democrat Will Rollins. Republicans have a narrow advantage. The race in California's 45th Congressional District is between Democrat Derek Tran and Republican Michelle Steel, the incumbent. The race in California's 47th Congressional District is between Democrat Dave Min and Republican Scott Baugh. The race is for an open seat. The seat is currently held by a Democrat.
