Saudi Arabia has arrested an ISIS supporter who shot dead two police officers earlier in the week, the country’s interior ministry announced on Friday.

Security forces detained Yazid Mohammed Abu Nayan after storming a farm near Riyadh, the ministry said in a statement. The 23-year-old told police that he had gunned down two police officers in the country’s capital Riyadh early on Wednesday, according to a statement released by the ministry.

The slain officers were named as Thamer Amran al-Mutairi and Abdulmohsen Khalaf al-Mustairi.

ISIS in Syria ordered Abu Nayan to travel to Saudi Arabia and use his experience in weaponry, manufacturing explosive and booby traps to carry out attacks, the ministry said.

After arriving in Saudi Arabia earlier this month, he met with an ISIS operative called “Bargis,” who instructed him to carry out and film the attack, the interior ministry added.

An unknown party supplied the guns and ammunition, along with 10,000 Saudi Riyals ($2,660), according to the ministry. A search of the farm outside of Riyadh turned up guns, ammunition and explosives, as well as seven cars, three of which were in the process of being booby trapped, it said.

An examination of three cellphones found at the scene had proved the group was in touch with people in Syria, the statement added.

A second man was still being sought in connection with the crime.
