President Barack Obama, in his first public statement after two police officers were shot in Ferguson, Missouri, said Thursday that "violence against police is unacceptable."
He addressed the shootings in a post on Twitter:
The officers were released from the hospital on Thursday morning after they were shot overnight outside Ferguson police headquarters. One officer, a seven-year veteran, was shot in the face, while the other, a 14-year veteran, was shot in the shoulder.
Investigators took people in for questioning, a spokesman for the St. Louis County police confirmed to NBC News, but made no immediate arrests.
