Sony announced Monday that its PlayStation TV console, which allows gamers to play old PS One classics and stream newer PS3 titles, will soon be available here in the states. The tiny, low-cost device features a selection of downloadable games from the early PlayStation era like the original "Metal Gear Solid" as well as more recent hits from PS2 and the Vita, like "Final Fantasy X" and "Persona 4 Golden." In addition, on a sufficiently fast Internet connection, it can stream PS3 games via the PS Now service. Lastly, if you have a PS4, you can play those games on any display within Wi-Fi range by attaching the PlayStation TV. It does stream movies and TV from Sony's services, but no big content partners like Netflix or HBO Go are signed up just yet.
The device was originally announced as the PS Vita TV a year ago, and was at the time only available in Japan. It comes to the U.S. on Oct. 14 for $100, though you'll probably want to spring for a larger memory card for games (Sony's proprietary format, naturally) and a controller or two.
