The death toll from the Washington state mudslide rose to 37 on Tuesday, according to local officials.

The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office says it has received a total of 37 victims from the March 22 landslide that took out State Route 530 and devastated the small town of Oso, Wash.

Thirty-six of the victims have been positively identified, and officials said Tuesday they are "diligently working" on figuring out who the latest body is.

"We are working closely with the families and extend our most heartfelt sympathies to the family and friends during this difficult time," the ME's office said in a statement.

Seven people remain on the missing list.

Meanwhile, flags outside of the Washington statehouse are being lowered Tuesday in memory of the victims of the mudslide, according to Seattle NBC affiliate KING.

Gov. Jay Inslee on Monday ordered that flags at all state facilities in the state be lowered to half-staff from noon (3 p.m. ET) Tuesday until the end of the day April 22.
