Nadya Suleman — famously known as "Octomom" for giving birth to octuplets conceived via in vitro fertilization— has been charged with welfare fraud for allegedly failing to report nearly $30,000 in earnings, the Los Angeles County prosecutor announced on Monday.

According to a news release issued by L.A. County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, Suleman, 38, is scheduled to be read formal charges in an arraignment on Friday.

Suleman, the mother of 14 children in all, applied for public assistance in January 2013 and did not disclose she was getting paid for personal appearances and residuals from videos she has appeared in, prosecutors said.

She allegedly did not report the extra income from Jan. 1 to June 30, 2013.

Suleman initially was charged on Jan. 6 2014 with three counts related to the alleged welfare fraud — one count of receiving government aid by misrepresentation and two counts of perjury by false application for aid.

She could face more than five years in custody if convicted, the prosecutor said.

Since making headlines when she gave birth to eight babies on Jan. 26, 2008, the single mother has been the butt of jokes and beset with financial troubles. She appeared in a pornographic movie, "Octomom Home Alone" and filed for bankruptcy in 2012
