At least three men, two of them disguised as construction workers, broke into a New York City home and drove off with a safe and jewelry worth more than $3 million, authorities said Tuesday.
The daring heist happened on Oct. 16 at about 2:20 p.m. ET in the Jamaica Hills neighborhood of Queens, police said.
The burglars "forcibly" opened a rear door of the home and once "inside the location the individuals removed a safe and jewelry, valued at approximately" $3.2 million, according to an NYPD statement.
They were last seen fleeing east on 84th Drive in a blue Hyundai Elantra, surveillance cameras showed.
One of the men was described by police as "wearing a black sweatshirt, black pants, black sneakers, a neon construction vest, white construction hat, eye protective wear and seen carrying a black backpack."
A second man donned "a black sweatshirt, black pants, gray sneakers, a neon construction jacket, white construction hat, eye protective wear, black face covering and carrying a black backpack," police said.
The third suspect wore "a white hoodie sweater, black pants, gray sneakers" and black gloves, serving as the getaway driver behind the wheel of a blue Hyundai Elantra, officials said.
No one was injured in the heist.
