A 78-year-old man was likely making one of his regular, unannounced visits to his older sister when he tragically crossed paths with a knife-wielding teenager in a clown costume, the victim’s family said Friday.

The suspect had “the intent to kill” John Wesley Allen, 78, who was stabbed Monday at a bus stop in East St. Louis, Illinois, officials said.

Authorities arrested 42-year-old Timothy Chaneyfield and said they fear there may be additional victims.
