Texas authorities say a dozen train cars derailed near Valley Mills on Saturday, including five tanker cars carrying methanol.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper D.L. Wilson said no injuries or fires were reported from the Saturday evening accident. He said one or two of the methanol-hauling tanks have small leaks.
Wilson said about 10 nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution. Residents were allowed to return around 9 p.m.
Wilson said it was unclear what caused the derailment, but heavy rain had been falling in the area. He said the weather was making it difficult for vehicles to get to the scene to unload material from the derailed cars, which also included seven flatbeds carrying oil-well pipes.
He said a hazardous materials crew was on the scene.
