Iran Nuclear Talks: 'Stakes Are High' Despite Progress, Kerry Says

Secretary of State John Kerry said Saturday that “substantial progress” had been made in nuclear talks with Iran but warned: “We don’t just want any deal.”

Western powers were united in seeking a deal that ensured Iran’s nuclear program was “entirely peaceful,” he told reporters, adding that he would discuss “sticking points” with his European counterparts over the weekend and return to Washington before talks resume.

“The stakes are high,” Kerry added, saying that "fundamental decisions have to be made now."

“We have not yet reached the finish line… but we have the opportunity to get this right. We must all choose wisely in the days ahead.”
