Jordanian warplanes are taking the lead again Friday in airstrikes against ISIS in Syria, defense sources told NBC News.
On Thursday, 20 Jordanian F-16s attacked dozens of ISIS targets, including weapons depots, troop staging areas and logistics centers in northeast Syria. The plan for Friday was similar, with targets determined by the U.S. military.
Jordan attacked after ISIS released a video showing a captured Jordanian fighter pilot being burned alive in a cage. Its military vowed that the strikes on Thursday were only the beginning, and called ISIS the enemy of Muslims.
