A nurse diagnosed with Ebola in Scotland has been transferred to a London hospital, the hospital said Tuesday. The Royal Free Hospital in London successfully treated another Ebola patient, nurse William Pooley, and is equipped to handle the intensive 24-hour-a-day care that Ebola patients need.

Save the Children, which has an Ebola clinic in Sierra Leone, said the nurse had been working for the charity.

“We can confirm that an NHS (Britain's National Health Service) healthworker working with Save the Children at the Ebola Treatment Centre at Kerry Town, Sierra Leone, has tested positive for Ebola. Our thoughts are with the individual, their family and colleagues at this difficult time. We wish them a speedy recovery," Michael von Bertele, Save the Children's humanitarian director, said in a statement.

“We have every faith the U.K. will effectively isolate this single case," Liberian Information Minister Lewis Brown said in a statement. "But this event demonstrates that Ebola respects no borders, and the that the international efforts to combat the disease across West Africa must be maintained — not only to make West Africa Ebola-free, but keep countries like the United Kingdom protected as well."
