LONDON — Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday slammed the “brazen murder” of students in a Taliban attack on a school in Pakistan. More than 132 school children were killed and scores were injured in the attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar.

"A house of learning had been turned into a house of unspeakable horror,” Kerry told reporters in London, saying the attack "angers and shakes all people of conscience." He lamented how the children’s lives were “wiped away by Taliban assassins,” saying that “as a father, I know exactly how hard it is when you send kids out of the house and into school.”

More than eight hours after the attack was launched, Pakistan's military confirmed that the attackers were dead and the siege was over. Kerry stressed to reporters in London that the U.S. is committed to "standing up" extremism overseas and would support Pakistan "any way we possibly can."
