The NBC News freelancer battling Ebola sent a message of hope Friday to the Texas nurses diagnosed with the deadly virus, wishing them a “speedy recovery.” Ashoka Mukpo, who is being treated at the Nebraska Medical Center, wrote on Twitter: “This thing is not easy but you’re both going to make it. Thanks for your bravery.”
Amber Vinson, 29, became the second health care worker to be diagnosed with the disease Tuesday after treating Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian who died of the virus on Oct. 8. Both worked at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Mukpo was diagnosed with the deadly disease while working as a camera operator for NBC News in Liberia on Oct. 2 and was quickly flown back to the United States for treatment.
