The White House wants other countries to do more to contain the spread of Ebola in West Africa, National Security Adviser Susan Rice says. When asked by NBC's "Meet the Press" moderator Chuck Todd whether the world had done enough, National Security Advisor Susan Rice said, “No. They haven't done enough, and we are pushing very hard for everybody to do more. This is going to take all hands on deck.”
The United States military, under the title Operation United Assistance, has set up a headquarters in Monrovia, Liberia, to help coordinate military support to the relief effort. Several hundred military personnel are already on the ground in the stricken country, but that number is expected to grow. “We expect there to be roughly in the range of 3,200 U.S. military personnel,” Rice said.
It’s estimated that the U.S. government will spend about $750 million over the next six months to help fight Ebola in Liberia.
