White House Senior Advisor Dan Pfeiffer on Sunday defended the administration’s response to the Ebola crisis, saying, "the president’s focused on this every day."

In an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press", Pfeiffer said President Obama is in constant contact with the Centers for Disease Control and local officials in Texas to ensure all resources are available. "There is no country in the world better prepared than the United States to deal with this. We have the best public health infrastructure and the best doctors in the world. We've been preparing for this eventuality since the outbreak in West Africa started seven months ago," Pfeiffer told NBC’s Chuck Todd.

According to the CDC, 3,431 people have died from the Ebola outbreak in Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. Pfeiffer warned that controlling Ebola will take time and a lot of work, saying the only way to deal with Ebola is to stop it at its source. That’s why, he says, the United States is deploying over 3,000 American troops to West Africa to help with relief efforts.

Pfeiffer said the administration will constantly evaluate its response, but it’s confident in the procedures put in place. "No one is better at command and control (and) logistics than the U.S. military. They’re going to make a huge difference over there," Pfeiffer said.
