Computing has gone mobile, but desktops aren’t dead, yet. In fact, the latest American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) survey released on Wednesday suggests PCs may be poised for a comeback. While satisfaction for tablets (80 out of 100) and laptops (76) dropped during the past year, desktops showed a three percent gain to take the lead with an ASCI score of 81. “Our expectations for mobile devices are very high, so it’s harder for manufacturers to meet or beat them,” said ACSI director David VanAmburg. “As people upgrade their desktops, they’re more satisfied with that recent purchase -– there are some cool new features now -– than they were with the old dinosaur they’ve been using.” When it comes to making customers happy, Apple still leads the pack, although it dropped 3 percent to 84. Samsung, Lenovo and Asus are close behind with an ASCI score of 82. The large windows-based manufacturers saw satisfaction drop. Dell tied Acer at 76, followed by Toshiba at 75. HP plunged eight percent to land at the bottom of the ratings with a 74.
