Florida police arrested a man on suspicion of quadruple murder on Friday and took custody of a 4-year-old autistic boy believed to be his son. SWAT teams swarmed the Floridian Hotel in Tampa, and detectives used a “ruse” to get to Adam Matos, 28, Tampa police said. An Amber Alert for the boy, Ismael Tristan Santisteban, was issued Thursday after officers checking on the child found four bodies piled up on each other near his house in Hudson, on the Gulf Coast. Matos and the boy were not there, but police tracked them to the hotel, where Matos was arrested, Pasco County sheriff’s spokesman Kevin Doll told NBC News.

Sheriff Chris Nocco told reporters Thursday that officers were called to a “domestic incident” at the family home in August and couldn’t find Matos despite “deputies constantly coming out here” later. Matos was charged in the domestic incident Friday, Doll said. While checking on the child, deputies found the bodies on a hill near the home after one officer “smelled something horrible,” Nocco said.
