Teenagers, who have just learned to drive, are most likely to get in serious crashes, so the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has issued its first list of the used vehicles it recommends for young inexperienced motorists. It puts a premium on safety features like airbags, electronic stability control and anti-rollover systems, though teens might not like the fact that most of the recommendations are low on power. The IIHS recommendations range in price from around $4,000 to $20,000 and covers a range of manufacturers, including Audi, Chrysler, Ford, Hyundai, Subaru and Toyota. It also includes a dozen General Motors products, including the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse sedans, as well as the GMC Terrain crossover.
