Counter-terrorism police are trying to track down twin 16-year-old girls who ran away from home in Manchester, England, and are feared to have traveled to Syria to join a terrorist group. The girls, who are Muslim and thought to be of Somali origin, slipped away from their beds in the night and took a flight to Turkey, police confirmed Sunday. Officers have not been able to locate the runaways, who have not been identified. But the Manchester Evening News and others reported the girls have told their parents since their disappearance that they are in Syria.

Just last week, Sir Peter Fahy, chief constable of Greater Manchester Police, warned young women against becoming brainwashed by "perverted messages" and traveling to the Mideast to become "jihad brides." The family found the girls’ beds empty on the morning of June 26 and found their passports and other possessions missing, police said. British authorities are becoming increasingly worried about young Muslims becoming radicalized and traveling to join groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham.
