A newlywed Arizona couple had to spend their honeymoon in a Red Cross shelter after a wind-whipped wildfire forced the evacuation of the campground where they were staying.
Nathan Westerfield, 22, and his bride, Mickella, 20, got married Sunday and were celebrating their honeymoon by camping out in Oak Creek Canyon near Flagstaff.
The couple had to abandon the camping gear they had purchased with their wedding money when the Slide Fire began to threaten the area.
"We literally have the clothes on our backs," Nathan Westerfield said.
By late Wednesday the fire had grown to 4,500 acres, putting thousands more people at risk.
