In the tsunami region, hospitals are posting names of the dead and photographs of the injured, in hopes that someone will see them and recognize them.

International news Web sites including the BBC have set up missing persons bulletin boards, by country, with hundreds of entries trying to trace the missing.

Some tourism Web sites — like Lonely Planet — and even homegrown Weblogs, are also listing messages, but they caution they're unofficial and might not be completely accurate.
