Vonage Holdings Corp., which has attracted intense attention in the telecommunications industry because of its use of voice-over-Internet technology, is lowering the price of its unlimited calling service.
Edison, N.J.-based Vonage is cutting the cost of unlimited domestic and Canadian calls to $29.99 a month from $34.99. The price includes call waiting and voice mail.
The company, which has 155,000 customers, is under increasing competitive pressure as big companies, including cable TV providers and AT&T Corp., are also introducing voice over Internet services that promise cost savings and new features linked to the Web.
AT&T announced voice-over-Internet services in March that offer unlimited domestic calling at $19.99 a month for the first six months and $39.99 for each month thereafter.
