OAK HARBOR, Wash., April 29, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Washington Banking Company (Nasdaq:WBCO), the holding company for Whidbey Island Bank, announced today that the Board declared a regular cash dividend of $0.05 per common share, payable May 25 to shareholders of record on May 10, 2011. This marks the 52nd consecutive quarter for a cash dividend paid to Washington Banking Company's holders of common stock.

Yesterday, Washington Banking reported first quarter 2011 net income doubled to $4.1 million from $2.0 million in the first quarter of 2010. Net income available to common shareholders totaled $3.0 million or $0.19 per diluted common share in the first quarter 2011, compared to $4.0 million, or $0.26 per diluted common share in the linked quarter, and $1.6 million, or $0.10 per diluted common share, in the first quarter a year ago.
