Officials say there were no injuries when a Southwest Airlines jet skidded off a runway at Chicago's Midway Airport.

Southwest spokeswoman Whitney Eichenger says the 134 passengers and five crew members onboard were taken off the plane safely. The plane was inbound from Denver and skidded onto a grassy area in a corner of the airport on Tuesday afternoon.

Fire officials say passengers were taken off the jet and driven by bus to the terminal.

The Federal Aviation Administration says it has investigators on scene and that the National Transportation Safety Board has been notified.

In 2005, a 6-year-old boy was killed when a jet skidded off a runway at Midway, through a fence and slammed into a car in which he was riding.
