Police have arrested a woman who they said hit her husband over the head with a 200-year-old musical instrument.

Zahra Tehrani, 53, was arrested Thursday night in the 24700 block of Georgia Sue after she reportedly hit her husband over the head with his 200-year-old tar — an Iranian instrument similar to a guitar — during an argument, Orange County Sheriff's Lt. Steve Doan said.

The husband reported the tar was worth $10,000. The Persian tar is considered by Iranians to be the "sultan of instruments," according to Nay-Nava, an encyclopedia of Persian musical instruments.

The 5-foot, 5-inch tall Tehrani was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence. She was taken to the Intake and Release Center and then released on bond.

The man had visible signs of injury but was not seriously hurt and did not receive medical attention, Doan said.

The incident report did not indicate whether the tar sustained damage.
