Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the Mideast peace process will get back on track next week.
For now, it's indirect talks — meaning U.S. officials meet with one side at a time and there aren't any negotiations planned where Israelis and Palestinians are at the same table.
Clinton says the U.S. eventually wants to see direct negotiations on a peace deal.
She told reporters on Friday that the Obama administration's special Mideast envoy, former Sen. George Mitchell, will travel to the region.
An attempt to revive the talks last month fizzled when Israel announced a new housing project in east Jerusalem, which the Palestinians claim as a future capital. The Israeli announcement infuriated the U.S. and strained ties.
