General Motors Co. namd Brian K. Sweeney as the new head of its Buick and GMC brands.
Sweeney replaces Michael Richards, who left the company on Dec. 10 after just eight days on the job.
The announcement is the latest in a string of appointments at GM, which has been undergoing a management shake-up under CEO Edward Whitacre Jr.
Sweeney, 42, is a company veteran who previously served as general sales manager for the brands, working with dealers.
GM also named Jennifer Constable general sales manager of the brands.
