A fire is burning at an oil refinery in the Wilmington area but the Los Angeles Fire Department says there have been no injuries or evacuations.

A fire is burning at an oil refinery in the Wilmington area but the Los Angeles Fire Department says there have been no injuries or evacuations.

Fire spokesman Brian Humphrey says the fire at the Tesoro refinery off the Pacific Coast Highway south of Los Angeles was reported shortly after 5 a.m.

Humphrey says the fire is in some equipment and doesn't appear to have spread.

He says more than 100 firefighters are on the scene.

There's no immediate word on the cause.

The 300-acre Wilmington facility refines 97,000 barrels of oil a day. According to the company Web site, it manufactures gasoline, jet fuel, diesel fuels, petroleum coke and fuel oil.
