County officials in Murfreesboro have put the brakes on a jail expansion project; they said it's just too expensive for now.
Officials thought it would cost $8 million to expand, but the price tag came in higher than expected. They're now waiting until the economy gets better.
The plan calls to add about 33,000 square feet.
County officials say they're not in a hurry; they just want to make sure the project gets done correctly.
