The sister of fashion designer and convicted rapist Anand Jon Alexander has been fined $1,000 for contacting a juror during her brother's trial.

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge fined Sanjana Alexander on Friday. She also must spend five days in jail or perform 120 hours of community service.

Last month, her brother was sentenced to 59 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting aspiring models.

During trial, juror Alvin Dymally approached Sanjana Alexander in the courthouse cafeteria and gave her his phone number.

The judge cited her for contempt for calling Dymally, who was trying to start a romance.

Her attorney says Sanjana Alexander is sorry for her actions.

Dymally was fined $1,000 Monday and ordered to perform community service.
