A small town is putting forth a big effort to save a historic structure.
Residents of Harmony hosted "A Day of Harmony" Sunday.
They hope to save the town's only post office, which has been serving the community for about 100 years.
The Postal Service shut it down in April of 2008 because it says the building is not structurally safe.
Organizers are petitioning for signatures and so far they say they have gathered about 4,000 names.
"It's not jut a matter of rescuing a little post office," said Aarika Wells, who lives in Harmony. "I think that even the fact that it's so small, that's part of the history here. There's so much history encompassed within the walls."
Organizers plan to send the petitions to Congresswoman Lois Capps, Senator Barbara Boxer and President Obama.
