RICHLAND, Wash.-- Even though the school year is a few days away, members from the Richland High school football team and the Key Club helped out at a car wash today-- all to help their teachers.
The car wash raised over two-thousand dollars for five teachers to go to Seattle for a sixty mile walk for breast cancer research.
The students said helping was an easy choice because cancer has touched so many in their lives.
"There's so many people in our community that have been affected by it," said Richland High senior Michael Severance. "We have a couple of teachers at our school that have actually survived breast cancer and our coaches mom survived from breast cancer so we feel like we have a direct responsibility to do what we can to help."
The teachers decided to go on the walk after one of them recently battled and beat breast cancer.
The teachers leave for the three day walk on September 10.
