Carli Lloyd's goal in the 98th minute of action propelled the United States women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Brazil in the gold medal match in Beijing.

The two teams were scoreless through regular time before heading into 30 minutes of extra time.

Eight minutes into the first extra session, Lloyd cracked a left-footed shot from 20 yards, beating the Brazilian keeper for the games only goal.

Hope Solo posted a clean sheet for the Americans as they revenged a World Cup loss in semifinals to Brazil.
