An avalanche briefly trapped two cars Wednesday near Snoqualmie Pass on Interstate 90, the Washington State Patrol said.

No was hurt in the avalanche.

The slide happened about 3 p.m. in the eastbound lanes at milepost 49, KING/5 television reported on its Web site. State troopers told the station that two cars were briefly trapped, and the freeway was closed again, just a few hours after it was reopened after an overnight closure because of high avalanche danger.

Washington state's mountains have been hit hard by a winter storm that forced the closure of I-90 on Tuesday. Hundreds of semi-trailer trucks lined up overnight on Tuesday along the freeway.
