The balloon was descending when it hit the line. The balloon and the basket separated and the basket fell 60 feet to the ground, Franklin County Sheriff Larry Richtsmeier said.

The crash occurred about 9:15 a.m., he said.

Two passengers died at the scene. The third person was flown by helicopter to a hospital. That person’s condition wasn’t immediately known, and the victim’s names were not released.
