Drug developer Merck & Co. said Monday it asked European regulators to approve its cancer drug vorinostat as a treatment for an advanced form of lymphoma.
The company asked the European Medicines Agency to approve the drug as a treatment for advanced, refractory cutaneous T-cell lymphoma. The cancer affects the immune system.
The drug is sold under the name Zolinza in the U.S. If approved by the European Medicines Agency, it can be marketed in all 27 member states in the European Union.
Shares of Merck fell 10 cents to $57.66 in premarket trading.
