A gust of wind blew an inflatable art exhibit from its moorings at a British park Sunday, killing two people and injuring 12, police said.

Up to 30 people were on the “Dreamspace” — an inflatable network of multicolored tunnels — when wind blew it 30 feet in the air in Durham in northeast England, police said. It came down after striking a metal pole, setting off scenes of chaos.

“There were parents looking for children, children looking for parents,” said John Robson of the local fire and rescue service. “We had to extricate a number of people from the structure. A number of people had fallen on top of each other.”

Two women, aged 68 and 38, died. Twelve were injured, including a 3-year-old girl in serious condition, said Durham Police spokeswoman Joanna Banford.

Dreamspace was a 8,200-square-foot structure and visitors could climb on it and through its tunnels.
