Two large cats resembling cougars were spotted at Andrews Air Force Base near Washington on Thursday, and a search was on for the potentially dangerous animals, NBC News reported.
A black cat jumped over the base’s fence, but a brown one was still believed to be on the property, according to witness accounts.
Animal control officials had not confirmed the species of the animals, which were seen near the base commissary and housing area.
Andrews Air Force Base is home to Air Force One, the president's plane, and is in Prince George’s County, Md.
In addition to ground personnel, the 1st Helicopter Squadron was called in to look for the animals from the air.
Officials alerted neighborhood schools to be “very careful.”
