Fans of “Serial” will have to wait a little bit longer for new episodes of the popular podcast that tells one in-depth story over the course of a season.

New installments of the podcast will now appear every other week, the show’s producers said on Tuesday. This season’s fifth episode will be released on Jan. 21, as first reported by the New York Times, instead of on Thursday of this week.

“Serial” in December began telling the ongoing story of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdhal, who was held bu the Taliban for five years after he walked away from his post in Afghanistan in 2009. Bergdahl, 29, now faces a court martial. Meanwhile, “Serial” is going to use the extra time to dig deeper into his story.

“There’s a good and exciting reason, which is that we’re adding more material. This story goes in so many directions and, as we’re reporting it, we’re getting access to more of the key people close to Bergdahl’s case and to more information than we initially thought we would,” co-creator Sarah Koenig wrote on the podcast’s website.

“Which is great. And which means we’re going to be adding at least one extra episode to the series. To do that — or at least to do it right — will take some time. Hence the change,” wrote Koenig, who also hosts the show.

“Serial” won a prestigious Peabody Award for its 2014 season, which explored a 1999 murder involving teenagers in Maryland.
