In April, look out for free downloadable content for "Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City" that contains the Spec-Ops squad seen in "Resident Evil 3: Nemesis."
The upcoming third person, squad based shooter game is due March 20.
For those unfamiliar with the "Resident Evil" off-shoot, the player will assume the roles of either a member of the United States Special Operations forces, with the job of taking down the nefarious Umbrella Corporation; or a member of the Umbrella Security Service who will cover up any trace of the corporation's illegal activities.
Not only is playing a bad guy a series first, but objectives include the pursuit and elimination of the heroes from previous titles, including franchise mainstays Leon Kennedy and Clair Redfield. The game presents various "what if" scenarios, and while the publisher has yet to make a direct statement, it's a safe bet the game's events are not canon.
"Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City" takes place during events already depicted in "Resident Evil 2" and "Resident Evil 3." In addition to affecting and changing previously established outcomes, it's a chance to see events unfold from a different perspective. In the case of the DLC, it will reportedly recreate one of part 3's famous parts: Jill Valentine's escape from Nemesis.
Profiles on the Spec-Ops squad can be viewed at Capcom Unity.
