While Google got plenty of applause at Wednesday's I/O developer conference in San Francisco, it also had to endure the shouts of angry protesters. One woman screamed, "Stop Jack Halprin," a reference to the Google legal executive who has been accused of evicting six tenants from a building he bought in the Mission District of San Francisco. She added, "Develop a conscience!" Over the last few years, tensions between San Francisco residents and wealthy tech industry newcomers have risen along with the rents.

Later at the conference, someone else stood up and yelled, "You all work for a totalitarian company that builds machines that kill people!" In the past year, Google has purchased drone-maker Titan Aerospace and robotics company Boston Dynamics.

Tuesday night, 10 protesters calling for "Net neutrality" were arrested after refusing to leave Google's campus in Mountain View, California.
