For those stuck in Egypt without the Internet, Google, Twitter and SayNow have teamed up to create Speak2Tweet, an innovative voicemail system: Call a number and leave a message, and the system blasts it out into the universe in the form of a tweet with the hashtag #Egypt.
Many Egyptians are already taking advantage Speak2Tweet; you can hear their tweets here. Presumably, traffic on that account will dwindle as cell networks go down overnight, but it shouldn't dry up completely, since the service works with landlines.
Good thing, because according to a recent report, Egypt is shutting down wireless service again.
