Bad news for folks who want a new iPad, but haven't pre-ordered it just yet: Apple's website indicates that it'll be two to three weeks before the shiny new toy is shipped to you.
When Apple initially began taking pre-orders for the new iPad, the shipping date for the device matched its release date — March 16. As Reuters explains, that date shifted to March 19 over the weekend, thanks to "stronger-than-expected demand."
And now there's not even a precise shipping date anymore. Just a simple note that it'll take "2-3 weeks" for any new iPad pre-orders to ship.
This iPad release doesn't mark the first time we've seen Apple re-adjust the shipping dates on product pre-orders, of course. Similar (and temporary) product shortages occurred when the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 were released as well.
Oh, and keep in mind that this shipping delay should not affect you if you pre-ordered your iPad prior to the shipping date change.
